
The annual North Carolina State Health Director’s Conference convened on January 24-25, 2008, at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley, in Raleigh, N.C. This year's conference featured:

- Public health leadership and management
- Public Health Preparedness
- Building partnerships with hospitals
- "State of the State" address on public health in North Carolina
The 2008 conference provided a unique opportunity for local and state public health leaders to share and discuss ideas and knowledge of ongoing public health issues of strategic interest. Conference attendees included health directors from across the state, as well as representatives from state health agencies, local and state public health decision-makers, government, and local public health providers. On Friday, three people were honored with Ronald H. Levine Legacy Awards for their significant contributions to public health in the state.
